Psychotherapy offers a confidential space to understand yourself more deeply and explore the patterns shaping how you feel, relate and live.
People come for many reasons — anxiety, low mood, loss, relationship difficulties, early trauma or periods of change. Others come because they feel stuck, repeat familiar patterns or simply want to understand themselves better.
My approach is both Relational and Core Process informed.
Relational Psychotherapy recognises that our early relationships shape how we see ourselves and relate to others, often outside our awareness. Therapy helps us notice these patterns and begin to relate differently.
Core Process Psychotherapy brings together Western psychotherapy with mindfulness and Buddhist philosophy.
What makes it distinctive is its attention to our moment-to-moment experience — emotionally, physically and relationally, as well as through the stories we tell.
It also holds that beneath our patterns and defences there is an inherent capacity for connection, peace and wellbeing. Therapy is not only about understanding what is difficult, but reconnecting with that deeper capacity.
Earlier experiences may be explored where they help illuminate the present, but the focus is on how those patterns are living in us now.
At its best, therapy can shift how we see ourselves and our lives — loosening old assumptions, creating more choice and greater freedom in how we relate and live.
